Watching AOTS last night the feed came on and as I watch on comes a story that someone had tested Windows Vista running it both on a Mac Pro and a regular old PC the results where, well… ironic to say the very least. I’ll see what I can dig up on this and post it for you to review. From what was said on the feed apparently the Mac Pro ran Vista better than the standard PC with comparable hard specifications. Wow…

Alright while I’m not the end all be all in terms of software reviews you’re reading my blog so I’ll kindly subject you to my opinion of Apples new OS Leopard. When someone asked me to sum it up in a single word, the only word that came to mind was “Meh” yes simply “Meh”. While I have to say that Leopard is not a bad OS I just feel it wasn’t really that big of an update.

In fact it really felt like more of an update when I switched from Tiger as apposed to a new operating system. While there are some great features here like, quickview, and the new view style in the Finder all in all I don’t think it merits an upgrade.

Out of everything I think the biggest disappointment to me was Time Machine. The idea was there, the application sounded good. Wait… It only works on HFS+ formatted drives? Well that’s all fine and good but what about people like myself who run a NAS thats already formated with a different file system? Oh, we’re just out of luck. Right.

Lastly my only outright complaint with Leopard is as follows. WTF happened to my top menu bar? It’s all translucent and funny looking? Let me just change thi… What? I can’t? *censored* *censored* *censored* how could you *censored* *censored* I’m going to *censored* *censored* *censored* *censored*. After I calmed down and went searching I discovered there are a few third party applications out there to do this but this is something that I felt should have been optional.

While new Mac’s are going to ship with Leopard I have to say you are not going to be disappointed you are still getting and quality operating system. If you already own a Mac with Tiger installed, personally I wouldn’t spend you time or money on this lack luster update.
